Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
What is Metal Logic?
A.
Metal logic is a platform business, we use our smelting and geographic business to connect mine sites to steel customers and reduce the inefficiency of the current value-chain.
- Supply of steel products, such as pig iron and crude billet.
- Mine sites or tenement owners.
Q.
I own a mine or tenement: Resource Qualification
A.
- Lower-grade ores made viable — turning stranded and sub-economic assets into profitable feedstock.
- Mine life extended — reducing environmental impact by unlocking resources that would otherwise be wasted.
- Strategic proximity — siting smelters close to ore bodies reduces shipping inefficiencies and keeps value creation local.
- Economic uplift — every tonne of ore retained in Australia can add up to $400 USD per tonne in value, creating jobs, resilience, and new industries instead of exporting opportunity.
Q.
I want Steel Supply
A.
- Demand for traceability — industries across the globe want to know the exact grade and CO₂ footprint of the steel they buy.
- Technology unlocks transparency — delivering cost advantage while certifying environmental impact.
- Breaking free from entropy — unlike coal, hydrogen, or electrification alone, new pathways in electrochemical, photonic, and molecular-scale separation finally allow us to go beyond physics-imposed limits.
Q.
Why no glossy website?
A.
Because we spent the money on science and customer value evidence—not on gloss. We’re not cottage green steel that costs more that needs marketing to move it. We will reveal more as the need drives it.
Q.
Will you reveal your process or how you have done this?
A.
…!
Q.
What's the culture like at Metal Logic?
A.
It doesn't matter how a team member starts with us the altruistic nature led by science and data with a focus on the consumer, opinions left at the door, is infectious.
Q.
So… what are you?
A.
Platform-first, consumer-focused steel company. Consisting of a vertically integrated business model - R&D, resource lab, production of our smelter modules, and modular smelter sites (we own our technology stack so we can improve it) to create something simple: Scalable eco-friendly steel that costs less than black-carbon steel. Output > speeches.
Q.
What do you sell, exactly?
A.
Pig iron first, then crude steel billets, then sheet/plate/coil—all from 40-ft modular units mass produced, controlled in house so we can improve and reduce more cost later. Think Lego and local to each region.
Q.
How big is the team?
A.
Growing fast. Vertically integrated across R&D, invention, process science, manufacturing, resource qualification, and steel QA. Fewer meetings, more focus on data leading to improvements, more metal.
Q.
Can we join the team?
A.
Yes send us your CV we will review it and consider it. We spent money on science for customer scale, not head hunters so don’t wait for them to call you.
Q.
I’m a customer—can I buy steel?
A.
Yes—when your region goes live. We’ll serve via select distributors and our direct platform. Tell us specs/volumes so we scale in the right order and hit the regions which make the most impact in an incremental order. Website and platform systems for queue position and priority will go live soon.
Q.
What ores can you use?
A.
Hematite & magnetite; we’re qualifying ≥55% Fe feedstock now, expanding the spectrum of grade that can be processed as we go.
Q.
"Zero emissions"? Really? (see graphs and science displayed on the front page for everyone to see the comparatives)
A.
We target a near-zero route via an optimized reduction pathway that avoids blast furnaces. We are very vertically integrated and have pedigrees in our teams across a number of sciences and spent years figuring this out, we didn’t start in the last few years that’s for sure.
Q.
Why modular?
A.
Speed, repeatability, capex discipline, and local availability. Ports + modules = short supply chains and fewer middlemen.
Q.
Main advantages vs conventional steel?
A.
Lower cost per tonne, big CO₂ cuts, plug-and-play scale, and faster time-to-metal. Also: fewer “we’ll get back to you next quarter” emails. See graphs and references.
Q.
Where are the first sites?
A.
Port Hedland, WA first; active Labs, smelter assembly and fabrication, R&D ops in Vic.
Q.
How big can this get?
A.
Facilities secured for manufacturing dozens of modules (~1 Mtpa+ per wave) and a resource database mapping hundreds of billions of tonnes globally. Yes, we’re serious.
Q.
How do I get involved?
A.
- Staff: we need team, most disciplines from a physicist to an MBA, from a production line worker to a lab technician to qualify ore it's going to take everyone for this one.
- Steel buyers: pre-register for allocation.
- Partners: propose a port, bring ore, or help us scale.
Q.
Is the IP for sale?
A.
No. We operate it. That’s the point. We want to ensure it reduces pollution and continues to be invested in to stay ahead of the competition (we replenish our technical and commercial moats), and creates an impact by being made available to the world through our platform.
